ABOUT ME

Born to a pair of lovely couple on 22nd March, 2006, i was named Chloe by May and Yiyin by Desmond. May is my Mum. She is an educator by profession, a dedicated teacher i must say. She is very passionate about Biology and Life Sciences. I've been hearing so much about Bio when i'm in her womb! Anyway, May's life seems very enriched. Busy with coming out with teaching pedegogies (another thing i've been hearing when i'm in her womb) and of course me! :> Hope she can put aside sometime for herself...she's getting unglam and haggard!!! Desmond, you should have guessed it by now....that's right, his sperm is the one that it responsible for part of my existance. Solider...defend the country...that's his job! Family oriented guy...he's always sandwiched between May and his family!? But he's doing a good job!

Hasn't been updating my adventure for nearly 6 mths.

Here are some:

Story Reading
May have been reading storybooks to me since she was 14 months old. May & Des bought some of these simple reading from popular bookshops. These are short stories about 8 to 10 pages. Each page come with beautiful pictures and a single sentence. 1 month into story reading and one day, as usual, they were reading the sentences in the story book to me. they were suprised that i could fill in the last word in every sentence. they have upgraded me to 2 sentences per page since.

My memory of the story was suprisingly powerful. There are times, they will recite the story to me without the book, and i can fill in the blanks of the last word in the sentence withlout fail.

Today, every night when they reached home from her grandma's place, i will rountinely, go to my box of books, pick up any one book and start flipping, sometimes pause to read a word or two on a page, other time just flipping with quick browse.

Recognizing and verbalizing A to Z lower case
At 15 mths, i was able to recongnize all alphabaest upper and lower case. But can mixed up "n" and "u" at times!

Number Sense
Now they are getting me to verbalise 14 to 20. 18 and 20 are easy!

Finger training and recognizing world continents
May thought i need to improve my fine motor skills, she need to let me practice some finger excersie. So, she got me a little wooden puzzle of world continents. I can piece them up and read out the name of the continent on the puzzle although MYpronoucation needs to be further improved. :p

"Balls in the sky"
Thjis refers to the planets. i love them. Could recognize and verbalize the words and identify the pictures.

Descriptive words
Whn i turned 16 mths old, one day, the folks herad me describe a ball as "green ball". That is when the folks realise i can describes things. So, nowadays, they make a conserted effort to also add a descriptive word or two infront of every noun. E.g: Small purple pail, pink towel, blue sky, white fluffy clouds, happy face and etc.

Xue Hua Yu
They thought they have been communicating too much to her in english, so they got a set of chinese words and picture book. Grandma JiaJia is chinese educated, and since Chloe spent most of her weekdays time with grandma, it seems an excellent deployment to get grandma to teach me to recognise chinese characters.

Grandma did a great job, to date, i could recognise characters of basic body parts, natural phenomenal, family members and numbers in chinese!

One day, Grandma JiaJia's usual morning, activity is to go to the food court after a morning stroll at the neighbourhood park. Grandma and qigong Kakees brought me to the nearby foodcourt. I immediately recognise the character "kou" on the saucer which has the word "Kou Fu" printed on it. Every one was thrilled.

There was another occasion, i was sitting down on the floor with her chinese book. i was flipping and reading the charcters. And guess, what, when i flipped to the chinese chracter "Pi", i said "pi" and followed by "nose". I tell you, you should look at the faces of my folks...they were amazed!!! I went on vebalizing the basic body parts first in mandrine then in english. That was when i was 16 mths old!
